Laser treatment in retinal breaks

Laser treatment is the main treatment for breaking the retina without its peeling. It prevents retinal detachment, which is one of the most serious conditions in ophthalmology.

In most cases, retinal tears are produced by peeling off the vitreous, which is a normal age process. When the vitreous detaches, the most common complaints from the patient are “lightning” and floating clouds. An eye examination soon after the onset of these complaints is essential to prevent the serious complication-retinal detachment. The review is performed with a special lens called Goldman’s Trigger Lens. With it, it is possible to look around the periphery of the retina, which remains inaccessible for visualization in the ordinary examination, and at the same time to make a laser. In the event of rupture, circular laser treatment is done around it to prevent the entry of an intraocular fluid with subsequent retinal detachment.
